Bryan’s COVID Policy
The Coronavirus has taken countless lives, devastated families, and greatly impacted our economy. More than that, it has revealed this country’s fault lines, exacerbating our divisiveness and systematic inequalities. We have so much work to do.
In this moment of uncertainty and challenge, West Michigan needs a representative who will work to bring us together to find common ground for the common good. Every day, it becomes clearer and clearer how critical it is to elect the right leaders - strong leaders - who will prioritize our well-being, have the courage to fix hard problems by working across partisan lines, and ensure our nation is guided by the right experts who bring forth evidence-based solutions.
As your representative, I will actively support a science-based approach to ending this pandemic. At the same time, I will support a decisive economic response to protect our economy while working to address the underlying structural issues COVID-19 has revealed. Specifically, I will advocate for the following:
● Ensure everyone – not just the wealthy and well-connected – receive the care and protection they desire, that includes the fair distribution of vaccines, extended unemployment benefits, affordable testing and treatment when needed, and protection from price gouging as new drugs and therapies are introduced in the market.
Collaborate globally on developing, manufacturing, and distributing a safe and effective vaccine to help bring health well-being to all people.
● Promote science-informed policies to reduce infection, including sensible mask mandates.
● Build capacity in both testing and contact tracing, knowing that COVID-19 will be with us for years to come.
● Increase resources available to child care providers and Title I schools so they can safety operate and help students who have fallen behind.
● Get relief funds to deserving small businesses, regardless of how well-connected the business owners are.
● Support federal and state-based efforts that ensure worker protection and accountability through a clear set of rules that keep workers safe from COVID-19.
● Use COVID-19 as a wake-up call to drive broader reforms in the health insurance system to make quality, affordable health care available for all Americans that enable our individuals and families to flourish and our businesses to thrive.
● Re-invest in the nation’s public health infrastructure and develop coordinated, future-facing, data-driven solutions to address future epidemics and public health challenges.
